I have worked as a Psychotherapist in Private Practice for more than 20 years offering Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy and Counselling to both individuals and couples who are experiencing emotional difficulties. Primarily I work with adult clients of all ages who are experiencing a wide range of presenting issues: anxiety; depression; low self-esteem; difficulties in family or step-family; bereavement, grief and loss, as well as problems of relationship with self and others. I also have a particular interest in the possible links between emotional distress and physical symptoms. My approach is to offer a supportive, gentle and reflective environment in which to explore the possible causes of the presenting issues and the emotions that are raised. Through this experience clients may be able to gain a much deeper understanding of themselves and bring clarity in their relationships with others. If any of these issues concern you please feel free to contact me by phone on 01788 536446 or e-mail alex@alexburns.co.uk In addition to my Rugby practice, for much of the past twenty years I was in practice in Hampstead, North West London. For ten years I was joint Course Director of Training for the MA Course in Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy at the Institute of Psychotherapy and Social Studies, and offered supervision to practicing therapists as well as therapists in training. Although I no longer practice in London, I remain as Director of Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy to the North West London Psychotherapy Centre. I am a Member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), a Member of the British Psychological Society (BPS), a Member of the College of Psychoanalysts - UK, and was awarded Life Membership of the Institute for Psychotherapy and Social Studies. I am Registered with the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP). My Rugby Practice is at the Brooke Centre, Regent Street, which is located near to the town centre and a few minutes walk from the Railway Station. |
